Tape Hiss and the Grit of London Asphalt

If you spent any time drifting through London in the nineties hunting for obscure cassettes or secondhand vinyl, you already know the name Will Bankhead. He was never one to push himself into the spotlight, yet his fingerprints are all over the key moments of British underground culture. Started as a personal blog dedicated to oddball sounds, forgotten tracks, and scuffed analog oddities, The Trilogy Tapes evolved from 2008 onward into one of the most uncompromising music and art outposts in Europe. No shiny radio bangers, just abrasive techno, drone, noise, and industrial pressed onto tapes and limited vinyl runs. When you decide to buy The Trilogy Tapes online, you are not buying into a prepackaged marketing concept. You are tapping into the visual and textile journal of a London head who would still rather dig through record crates and go skate than bend to the rules of the commercial fashion circuit.

Analog Static and a Shared Visual Universe

The graphic language of The Trilogy Tapes does not exist in a vacuum. It is deeply connected to a tight circle of creatives who have quietly altered the face of streetwear and graphic design for decades. Alongside Fergus Purcell, Will Bankhead laid the visual groundwork for Palace Skateboards right from day one. That raw VHS visual language, the distorted typefaces, and the cut-and-paste punch that defined Lev Tanju's project were pulled directly from Bankhead's personal archive and working methods. At the same time, he shares an ongoing friendship and creative rapport with Toby Feltwell and graphic mastermind SK8THING behind Cav Empt. It is the exact same frequency: mangled photocopies, moire patterns, degraded imagery, and a genuine appreciation for the rough and unfinished. These elements feed directly into The Trilogy Tapes clothing. Every drop feels like contraband smuggled out of a basement rave, heavy with references to classic sound system culture, old skate zines, and analog video static.

Heavyweight Basics Built Without Compromise

The Trilogy Tapes drops gear when Bankhead is good and ready, not when a seasonal trade calendar dictates it. When it comes to manufacturing, there are no flimsy blanks that lose their shape after two wash cycles. A The Trilogy Tapes t-shirt is cut from dense, durable cotton jersey that hangs right and holds up to everyday abuse on the board. The prints are deliberately cryptic, abrasive, and raw. Bankhead uses thick screenprints that sit deep in the fabric, pairing them with lo-fi collage work that makes you look twice to catch every detail. This is not cheap promotional merch run off on the side. It is fully realized, independent streetwear made for people who could not care less about mainstream trends.

Subculture Between the Curb and the Basement

Our The Trilogy Tapes shop at Bonkers represents what skateboarding is actually about: loose affiliations, underground codes, and an outright refusal to follow standard formulas. Bonkers was built on skateboarding, and skate culture has always been the breeding ground for the best music and off-kilter visuals. Will Bankhead lives right at that crossroads. The Trilogy Tapes is not an interchangeable label, but a vital piece of modern subcultural history. For an independent shop that values substance over mass-market approval, TTT is an absolute staple. It belongs here because it carries that stubborn DIY spirit, raw sounds, and uncompromising attitude you need in the streets just as much as in a sweaty basement club.
